Do you have pictures you have taken this school year at Sherwood (kids working in class, spirit days, lunch time fun, field trips, parties, 6th grade activities, or special class projects)? Please share them with us so we can possibly use them in Sherwood's Yearbook!
To submit photos, click on the link below and it will take you to the Yearbook folder in Google Photos. It's very quick and easy to upload your best photos. You can use the website the link directs you to, or if you have the app 'Google Photos,' it will open automatically when you click on the link. (Note - the app is free and makes it very convenient to share photos regularly.)
If it's easier for you to e-mail a couple photos, that's fine. But when prompted about the image size, please choose ACTUAL SIZE. It needs to be the highest resolution for the Yearbook. E-mail: email@example.com
Thanks for sharing your pictures throughout the year!
The PTA will be providing meals for teachers during the November conferences. A variety of soups will provided by Silver Ladle on Thursday, November 10th for dinner, and sandwiches will be provided by Servatii on Friday, November 11th for lunch.
Although the main dishes are taken care of, the rest of the meal depends on the kindness of volunteers to contribute drinks, sides, and desserts. Please visit the link below if you would like to provide an item.
Thank you so much for anything you can bring for the teachers to enjoy. It is much appreciated!
Please drop off Thursday dinner items by 3:30pm on the 10th at the front office, and please drop off Friday lunch items by 11am on the 11th.
This week we will be celebrating the Flying Pig Spirit Week!

In Principal Hamilton's message to parents last week, he requested parent help with Destination Imagination.
Destination Imagination is an international, educational program that gives kids an amazing outlet for their creativity, while teaching them leadership, teamwork, positive thinking, project management and so much more.
Teams choose one of six open-ended Challenges and solve it in their own unique ways, and present their solutions at the Regional Tournament in March. Teams also solve an on-the-spot Instant Challenge at the tournament, where they must think quickly on their feet and work together to solve a problem in five to eight minutes.
They are looking for Parent Volunteers to Manage Team(s)
• Team Managers are like coaches. They supervise, provide resources, and teach skills, teamwork and problem solving skills.
• Materials and training are provided for Team Managers.
• Additional parents needed to assist Team and Team Managers.
We are one of the only elementary schools in Forest Hills without a Destination Imagination Team. The Forest Hills Foundation is sponsoring all of the teams across the District but we need adults from each building to lead.
Interested in joining a DI team or in being a Team Manager? Contact Tracy Huebner at firstname.lastname@example.org
During conferences, come shop the Scholastic Book Fair in the Media Center. Students love this annual event where proceeds directly benefit Sherwood. Students will be previewing the Book Fair and making wish lists during their weekly library time, so please be on the lookout for information coming home the week of November 7th. This is a great opportunity to start your holiday shopping and to support Sherwood!
November 10th, 4:00pm - 8:00pm
November 11th, 8:30am - 4:00pm
Check out our Scholastic Book Fair website. If you can't make it to the school Book Fair or for a wider selection of products, please use this website to shop online from November 2 - November 15.
We are in need of a few volunteers to make this event a success. Please visit the link below to sign up for a shift during the Book Fair. Thank you for your help and support!

Thank you to all the parents and kids who supported our fall fundraiser. It was a fun event which generated over $9,000 for our school. Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped out.
And one last thank you to our top sponsors: Smoothie King, Fresh Thyme, and Krave Jerky. Their support went a long way to having a successful event.
We are looking for some Sherwood parents to join our planning committee for our Parents Night Out. This year's event will take place on Friday, February 3, 2017.
The evening will consist of dinner, an open bar, entertainment, a silent auction, live auction, student art, plus a wine grab.
This is a great event to get involved to help raise valuable funds for our school. You can do as much or little as you like by helping with food donation, silent auction items, event planning, wine raffle, decorations, etc. If interested, please contact Kerry Strait.
The mission of Red Ribbon Week is to lead and support our nation's families and communities in nurturing the full potential of healthy, drug free youth.
In recognition of Red Ribbon Week, students are asked to wear red on Wednesday, October 26th.
On Thursday, October 27th Mrs. Bellar is planning a "Mix It Up" during lunch.
She is looking for 6 - 10 parents to sit throughout the tables and help facilitate conversation about healthy lifestyles, etc. If you would like to be a table facilitator you can sign up HERE.
Mrs. Bellar is also looking for red trinkets for an estimation jar (bouncy balls, rings, necklaces, stickers). The class closest will win a prize.
The Sherwood PTA has several open positions. If you are interested in filling one of the positions, please contact Melanie Gould, PTA President.
