The Forest Hills School District Science Fair will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Nagel
Middle School. Students in grades one through twelve interested in participating in the Science
Fair should begin their science projects early.
Identify an experiment you want to enter in the fair and begin planning for it now. Discuss your
project with your teacher and parents before deciding on a topic. Make sure it is an experiment
and not simply a report.

you with the registration process. Your Science Fair Representatives are:

This year the PTA has organized a wide variety of before and after school enrichment programs to make the most of your child's time at Sherwood.
To see what we have to offer this year, download the PDF booklet.
Scholarships are available for FHSD students. Please contact the school counselor Lisa Suttman at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
If you love the smell of books and helping children fall in love with the written word - this one's for you.
The PTA is seeking volunteers to help out this year in Sherwood's Media Center.
As a library/media center volunteer, you will check in returned books and re shelve them, help the children check out books, keep shelves straight and help Mr. Ernst.
The Sherwood media center and library cannot run without the help of volunteers. If you can help, sign up for a time here.
If this isn't the right opportunity for you, no worries! Just keep an eye on the Volunteer Opportunities tab for upcoming chances to help.
The Sherwood Back to School Bash is on Thursday, August 31. It's the Sherwood community's chance to welcome the school year back with open arms and outdoor fun.
There are a few changes to the event this year:
Sherwood Principal Dan Hamilton is asking parents to get a head start on paying their Archers' school fees.
School fees are used to buy classroom materials.
To pay fees, please use this link to access FHSD's EZPay system.
There's still a little time to order your school supplies online with Bright SchoolKitz. These custom school kits make back-to-school easier.
Using the teacher's specific supply list, Bright School Kitz packs these boxes with name-brand supplies. They will be waiting at Sherwood for your child on the first day of school. Done and done!
The summer is already busy enough, so earn an extra day by the pool and order those supplies online.
This offer is available for incoming kindergarten too.
$1 of each kit ordered goes back to the Sherwood PTA.

Attention parents of soon-to-be Nighthawks, 6th grade graduation will be held on Tuesday, May 23rd at Nagel Middle School from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
The night will include a band performance.
Administration officials know the preference is to have the ceremony closer to the end of the school year, but this is the only date available.
Tonight is a very special night for the Sherwood community. Tonight, our building will be filled with artwork from the best artists I know (our students) and our Fifth and Sixth Grade Chorus will be starting the night off with some beautiful music. However, tonight is also a time of celebration- celebrating almost one full school year in a newly renovated building. To help us celebrate, we have some special guests from our school community (Mr. Scot T. Prebles-FHSD Superintendent, Dr. Forest Heis- FHSD Board of Education President, Ray Johnson-FHSD Director of Buisness Operations) who will share a few words with us during the chorus concert.
The 5th and 6th Grade chorus will begin singing in the gym at 6:00pm. If you are not planning on attending the concert, all artwork will be on display beginning at 6pm as well.
Artwork will be displayed in the front entryway, and down the intermediate and primary hallways.
Parking will be at a premium tonight! I strongly encourage to carpool, walk (if possible and weather permitting) or look for parking on the sidestreets. The only parking in Sherwood's circle drive will be along the inside (non-sidewalk side). The sidewalk side of the circle drive needs to remain completely open in case of an emergency. Also, please do not block the entrance to the drive by parking in the grass. Our neighbors appreciate you taking care of their yards!
I look forward to seeing all of you this evening!
Who doesn't love a deal? If you order your fall Bright School Kitz before May 30, you get $5 off.
These kits match your teacher’s supply list and are filled with brand name, quality products. The kits are delivered to school before the first day.
Do future you a favor, order today and avoid the hassle of driving store to store to find school supplies in the heat of August. Plus, $1 of each kit sold goes to the PTA.
The last Ohio State Tests will be occurring for grades 3-6 during May 1st - 5th.
Please be mindful of these dates and as always, encourage your children to have a good night sleep prior to, eat a healthy breakfast, and to do their best.
Also, we are asking for NO volunteers during these 2 State Testing weeks. Furthermore, before school Band, Orchestra, & Chorus for these two State Testing weeks will be cancelled.
All tests will be taken electronically through the Ohio State Test Portal. Each test is administered in two parts. Elementary students will take only one part per day.
In order for students to become familiar with this testing procedure, the state has provided practice resources for parents and students.
Two short tutorials are available to teach navigation skills on the testing site as well as how to use the embedded testing tools.
Teachers will be introducing these tutorials with students in the classroom but parents can try them at home by going to http://oh.portal.airast.org/ocba/students-and-families.
If you have any questions about state testing please contact your child's teacher or Mr. Hamilton.
