Picture day is coming next Thursday, September 21st!
Fall pictures are used in the Yearbook so ALL students will be photographed regardless of whether you place an order.
An order form will be coming home in the next couple of days or you can order online at mylifetouch.com with the code: JC017195Q0.
This year the PTA has organized a wide variety of before and after school enrichment programs to make the most of your child's time at Sherwood.

Scholarships are available for FHSD students. Please contact the school counselor Lisa Suttman at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Sherwood Principal Dan Hamilton is asking parents to get a head start on paying their Archers' school fees.

Olympic Day is still on, but mother nature demanded the date be changed, twice.
Sixth graders will be participating in Olympic Day on Monday, May 22 from approximately 9:30 - 1:00.
All 6th Grade students from all Forest Hills school will come together to compete in various sporting events. The event will be held at Anderson High School. Due to construction, parking is very limited and all volunteers will be shuttled to the school from Nagel. We need 20 volunteers to help run the event. Please sign up below if you can help - all roles are needed for the entire timeframe. Volunteers will leave Nagel via shuttle at 8:40 or 9:00 or you can be dropped off at AHS.
When signing up, please comment if you cannot be on the early shuttle so I will assign you a role that leaves at 9:00. You will be shuttled back to your car after. All volunteers will be assigned a specific role such as Group Leader, Event Tallier, water table, Event overseer, etc. and will be provided instructions before the event. If volunteers become full, other parents are welcome to come to watch as spectators.
We are also in need of volunteers to run a special lunch back at school after the Olympics. This involves picking up the subs from Jersey Mikes, setting up and serving the lunch to the kids. In addition, we need parents to sign up to bring some side items for the lunch.
You can sign up to volunteer HERE.
Questions? Please contact Emily Sandul.
Beautiful flowers and a selection of vegetables from Burger Farm will be offered to the students at a cost of $1.00 each. There is a limit of two plants per student.
Students will purchase plants during class time and should bring their money to school on Friday, May 12th.
Volunteers are needed to help with the annual Mother's Day Plant Sale on Friday, May 12th.

Attention parents of soon-to-be Nighthawks, 6th grade graduation will be held on Tuesday, May 23rd at Nagel Middle School from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
The night will include a band performance.
Administration officials know the preference is to have the ceremony closer to the end of the school year, but this is the only date available.
Tonight is a very special night for the Sherwood community. Tonight, our building will be filled with artwork from the best artists I know (our students) and our Fifth and Sixth Grade Chorus will be starting the night off with some beautiful music. However, tonight is also a time of celebration- celebrating almost one full school year in a newly renovated building. To help us celebrate, we have some special guests from our school community (Mr. Scot T. Prebles-FHSD Superintendent, Dr. Forest Heis- FHSD Board of Education President, Ray Johnson-FHSD Director of Buisness Operations) who will share a few words with us during the chorus concert.
The 5th and 6th Grade chorus will begin singing in the gym at 6:00pm. If you are not planning on attending the concert, all artwork will be on display beginning at 6pm as well.
Artwork will be displayed in the front entryway, and down the intermediate and primary hallways.
Parking will be at a premium tonight! I strongly encourage to carpool, walk (if possible and weather permitting) or look for parking on the sidestreets. The only parking in Sherwood's circle drive will be along the inside (non-sidewalk side). The sidewalk side of the circle drive needs to remain completely open in case of an emergency. Also, please do not block the entrance to the drive by parking in the grass. Our neighbors appreciate you taking care of their yards!
I look forward to seeing all of you this evening!
The last Ohio State Tests will be occurring for grades 3-6 during May 1st - 5th.
Please be mindful of these dates and as always, encourage your children to have a good night sleep prior to, eat a healthy breakfast, and to do their best.
Also, we are asking for NO volunteers during these 2 State Testing weeks. Furthermore, before school Band, Orchestra, & Chorus for these two State Testing weeks will be cancelled.
All tests will be taken electronically through the Ohio State Test Portal. Each test is administered in two parts. Elementary students will take only one part per day.
In order for students to become familiar with this testing procedure, the state has provided practice resources for parents and students.
Two short tutorials are available to teach navigation skills on the testing site as well as how to use the embedded testing tools.
Teachers will be introducing these tutorials with students in the classroom but parents can try them at home by going to http://oh.portal.airast.org/ocba/students-and-families.
If you have any questions about state testing please contact your child's teacher or Mr. Hamilton.
The PTA Nominating Committee has presented its recommendations for the 2017-2018 Executive Board. Please see the first page of the document below for those positions. The PTA will vote on this slate at the next General Meeting, May 1, 2017 at 7 p.m. All are encouraged to attend this meeting and vote on the Executive Board.
Recommendations for 2017-2018 Executive Board
Thank you to all the parents who have already stepped-up and volunteered to chair a PTA Committee for next year. There was such a huge response from volunteers and this is what makes the PTA and its events so successful.
Please look over the rest of the document above to see the events the PTA is responsible for next year.
If you want to help with a Committee next school year, please let Tracy Huebner know.
The PTA still has two Committees that need a Co-Chair. Please consider co-chairing one of these Committees....
The After-School Enrichment coordinator facilitates bringing multiple wonderful after school programs to the children and families of Sherwood. You would be working with another parent, as co-chairs for this committee.
As the Enrichment coordinator, you would...
For more information about the After-School Enrichment position, to-co-chair this committee or if just want to help a little next year, please contact Marleen Johnson, email@example.com or 253-3500.
Community Fundraisers (Restaurants/Kroger/Amazon)
In this position, you would be finding local restaurants and organizations that will donate a certain percentage of their sales back to Sherwood during special Sherwood days at their establishment. Then you need to publicize these special Sherwood days to the Sherwood community and encourage them to visit the businesses on the specific dates.
With Kroger and Amazon, you need to explain to the Sherwood families how these companies will donate a certain percentage of their purchases back to the school. You have to be creative with sharing the message of how families can help Sherwood earn money.
You will have a co-chair helping you with this committee.
Ever wonder what PTA really does? Are you looking to get more involved?
We will discuss what PTA does and how you can get involved. Back to School Bash, Color Run, Fun with Son, School Pictures, Book Fair, Parents' Night Out, Breakfast with Santa, Father/Daughter Social, 6th Grade Activities and Field Day are just some of the events that are managed by PTA and are 100% volunteer coordinated. If it wasn't for volunteers chairing and planning these events our children would not have the benefit of attending.
We are currently looking for people who are interested in chairing or co-chairing committees, and a few new faces on the PTA Board. If you are interested in attending or have questions, please contact Melanie Gould.
